High efficiency motors and smart controls reduce energy use

High cooler efficiency saves money for the store owner, saves wear on the refrigeration system, and helps save the planet too! So it is not surprising that leading beverage brands are demanding the most efficient coolers possible.

Wellington makes some of the most efficient bottle cooler fan motors available. Our ECR® motors use less than a third of the power of shaded pole motors. Replacing evaporator and condenser fan with ECR motors can reduce the power consumption of a bottle cooler by 25% or more.

Our SCS™ controls have an automatic power-saving standby, saving up to 40% of energy consumption compared to an electronic thermostat. They also feature other advanced energy saving features such as LED light dimming and fan speed adjustment, letting OEMs optimise the control of any cooler.

ATEX rated components enable hydrocarbon refrigerants 

Hydrocarbon refrigerants like R290 are the environmentally friendly choice for plug-in refrigeration systems. But the flammability of hydrocarbon means manufacturers and owners need to be completely confident about the safety of their equipment.

All Wellington ECR2 fan motors motors are ATEX certified to ensure maximum safety in the case of gas leaks. Other ECR® motor models are available in both ATEX and "hydrocarbon compatible"* versions. ECR motors are also certified by UL as "nonsparking components".

All Wellington SCS refrigeration controllers are hydrocarbon compatible, and use hydrocarbon-rated relays.

Advanced motor, fan, and control systems reduce noise

Quieter coolers make customers and store owners happier. The main sources of cooler noise are compressors and fans.

Wellington's new ECR2 motor is the first refrigeration fan to have three phase "Field Oriented" control - the smoothest drive technology available. This makes ECR2 the quietest motor in its class. Our biomimetic fans are among the quietest available also.

ECR1 and ECR2 motors' speed can be programmed in the factory or the field. So you can tune each cooler model to have the minimum airflow - and noise - needed, and avoid any resonances in the cooler. Plus, when these motors are used with SCS controls, evaporator and condenser fan speeds can be independently set by the controller, and even varied in real time, allowing airflow and noise to suit the cooler's environment and load levels: a cooler in a quiet office doesn't need the airflow of one outside in the sun, and quietness is more important.

SCS controllers also have outputs to control the speed of variable capacity compressors, for the ultimate in noise control and efficiency.

OEMs also need to understand the real operating conditions of their products, to drive cost saving and reliability improvement. That's why Wellington invented SCS Connect System: a data-driven fleet management system enabled by our low-cost telemetry system.

SCS Connect System is a revolution in cooler fleet management. It lets you track your assets, monitor and improve cooler throughput, identify and diagnose faults, and reduce service training and costs - all from the comfort of your desk. Wellington manages the telemetry data and provides you with simple tools to show you what's going on. Or if you prefer, we can feed you the raw data and you can use your own tools.

Built-in iBeacons help you connect with customers

Retailers and restaurants are increasingly using digital marketing to enhance sales, and proximity-based marketing is the "next big thing" in digital marketing. To make location based marketing easy, Wellington offers an end to end solution.

Our SCS refrigeration controls have built-in iBeacon®  and Eddystone® beacons. Unlike conventional beacon "buttons", they can never get lost or stolen, and there is no battery to go flat. Our iPX™ campaign management platform lets you create and monitor proximity marketing campaigns. Our Mobile Coupon Factory team can work with you to create your own smart coupon campaigns and redemption solutions. And our ScreenSmarts package links proximity to digital media screens. 

Wellington can also work with your digital marketing agency to integrate SCS beacons with your content delivery system.

Dual-voltage and configurable components simplify your supply chain

Wellington knows that refrigeration OEMs have a wide range of cooler models, and need to minimise their inventory and supply chain complexity, while maintaining the flexibility to supply customers at short notice. That's why we have made it easy. With Wellington, your motor, fan, and controller needs can be simplified.

Wellington's ECR motors work efficiently with a wide range of fan sizes, meaning you don't need to carry multiple motor power levels. Our ECR2 motors and SCS controllers have automatic dual-voltage capability, allowing you to use a single model for 100-240V applications. And our ECR1, ECR2, and SCS can be configured quickly and easily on the production line or in the field, meaning you don't need to decide in advance what cooler models they are going into.

Customisable functions and appearance differentiate your products

Our SCS controllers are easy to customise to give a unique appearance that suits your brand. Their small size and good IP rating means they can be fitted wherever best suits the look of your cooler. And the large range of settable parameters mean you can create operating modes that suit your product. For advanced OEMs, Wellington can also work with you to implement your own unique control algorithms in SCS controllers.

ECR motors can also be programmed with a range of functions to suit your coolers' needs. Examples include timed reverse, delayed speed changes, or different forward and backwards speeds.
